Introduction
My name is Carole Bevis and I am enrolled in the Education Specialist Degree Program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began this program in the summer of 2013 and plan to graduate the summer of 2014. I graduated from Florida State University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and in 2000 with a master's degree in Reading and Language Arts. I obtained both degrees as an older student and the mother of elementary and middle school children of my own. Now, I am pursuing an instructional technology degree as a grandmother.
I taught a few years in Tallahassee, however, I have taught in Thomas County at Hand in Hand Primary for twenty-one years. I began my career as Georgia began the lottery funded Pre-K program and I taught in that program for eighteen years. Currently, I am teaching kindergarten and have been there for the last three years. I teach in an unusual school that serves over seven hundred, pre-k and kindergarten students. The school was built with small bodies in mind and it is an amazing place.
This portfolio reflects the work and artifacts that help demonstrate the growth and mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards. The artifacts are listed under each of the standards. They demonstrate the many ways that technology is used and show how the artifact represents the mastery of that standard. This electronic portfolio is easy to navigate and contains a wealth of information as you look under each standard. It also contains some thoughtful dialogue through the blog posts that you may find interesting and insightful.
I look forward to this last summer session at Kennesaw State University. I am excited about my plans to integrate technology in my classroom and hope to inspire other teachers to do the same.
