My initial thoughts on bookmarking were filled with confusion. Only later did I realize that I probably had already experimented with it when I created my iGoogle account years ago. I enjoyed the ability to look at my email, news-feeds updates on Facebook and my Google calendar all on one page. However, Diigo and Delicious weren't as easy for me as iGoogle was. Now that I have used it for a few days I am beginning to see the beauty of being able to do more than just bookmark a few pages. Highlighting a part of a post as a reminder of why I thought it was important in the first place, was a really important feature. Highlighting also allowed me to show a classmate why I thought it might be important to them.
Until reading through the module it didn't occur to me that I was already using social bookmarking when I created a Pinterest or iGoogle account. Through Pinterest I had different lists for different purposes my cooking, my gardening and educational tips. Diigo was more challenging than Pinterest because of issues I had with the toolbar. However, I think I will stay with Diigo because it allows me to bookmark my Delicious account and Delicious does not have that feature for Diigo.
One of the features I can envision using is the ability to highlight. This will allow me to capture a piece of an important article and if eventually the website goes down, I still have a snippet of the article. I also discovered that I could save various email accounts that I have created for several of our classes. In my Lists I created one titled emails and now all of those accounts are in one place should I forget my user name, this will also remind me to check them. I also liked having the ability to keep other web 2.0 accounts that I use in a central location, especially those that I may be using for my research such as; Audioboo, Voice Thread, Voki, and SoundCloud. Additionally, my Wikki and Twitter accounts are linked in Diigo making it easier to check everything at one location.
Professionally I can see using Diigo to keep track of the many resources I have accumulated for my kindergarten classroom. I am a little concerned that I am not using it to full potential and I am anxious to see how others are using theirs.
