I initially went back to our text book, Integrating Technology into Teaching, by M.D. Roblyer and Aaron H. Doering (2013). The textbook suggested WebQuest for rubrics http://webquest.sdsu.edu/webquestrubric.html. Although the rubric is for a WebQuest, I gleaned some suggestions because WebQuest by nature are so visual which helped with the illustration portion of my rubric. Another blog that helped me was edublogs which led me to The Kinder Kids Classroom. The Kinder Kids Classroom did not give me examples of a rubric but as I looked at each student’s site, it showed me how kindergarteners are capable, with a little prompting and support, to post to a blog. I visited another site through edublogs for evaluating voice threads to give me assistance in that part of the rubric. Sites for blogging with this age group are hard to find, in fact, most of the blogging sites have more of the teacher’s thumbprint than the students. The rubric I created could be used for several literacy activities just by tweaking a few points. Additionally, I added a space to put comments students might have on their work.
